Team Losi is a premier brand in the RC industry that is known for its innovations and high performance cars. The Losi 5IVE-T 4WD Short Course Truck is its flagship product, showcasing the best that today’s technologies can offer. This is an off-road racing truck made at a fairly large 1/5 scale. Calling it a toy would simply be misguided given its size and workmanship. Its capabilities in the field are quite inspiring, aided by award-winning design and quality materials. This comes in a bind and drive kit so owners can pair it with their favorite DSM transmitter setup.

This is one of the biggest among the line of Team Losi cars. It measures 38 inches in length, 20.75 inches in width, and 12.25 inches in height. In other words, it’s massive. Ground clearance is at 2 inches which is ample for smooth trails, though gnarly terrain may cause scratches underneath. The wheelbase is wide at 24 inches. Users will feel confident about this car even as it wades through rugged landscapes as its chassis is made of 5mm thick high-grade aluminum that’s good enough for aircraft use. Any unnecessary section has been machined off to save weight. It can take constant pounding thanks to a 4-wheel independent suspension system. The drive-train features 4WD with silicone fluid differentials and a centrifugal clutch.

The vehicle is powered by a 26cc gas engine that lets it climb inclines and get out of sticky situations. The fuel tank, meanwhile, has a large 800cc capacity that allows long drives. The manufacturer recommends using 2-stroke mix 90 Octane Gasoline. The tires are specialized for off-road conditions and are made with a durable rubber compound. The wheel size is 4.75 inches. Energy for the receiver is provided by a 6V 3000 mAh battery pack which can be recharged with the accompanying global AC charger. Shock absorption is handled by 24mm diameter towers that are filled with oil and use compensation bladders. The system can be fine-tuned to find the best balance and produce optimum performance.

The air and fuel systems are aided by a two-stage foam filter that prevents dust and debris from entering yet still allowing constant airflow. The engine comes equipped with a high-volume muffler for quiet operation. It can be started through electronic ignition for convenience. There’s even an adjustable carburetor with a built-in choke and fuel primmer so the engine can get going right away when it needs to. There’s also a 1/4 scale heavy-duty throttle servo. Aside from its usual work, it doubles as the origin of the braking power, which is crucial for a car this big. It is able to do this thanks to the bias adjustable dual-disk brakes.

The car comes with a Spektrum SR3300T Telemetry Receiver that uses 2.4GHZ DSM technology. It has built-in telemetry and is equipped with sensors that can detect engine temperature, vehicle speed, and battery voltage. Paired with a matching DSM transmitter, the user will have all vital information in his fingertips.
